New Wortley is is a large modern suburb which adjoins Holbeck, near Wellington Bridge

And the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The Church is now in course of erection at the cost of about £3500,raised by

Subscription and grants. An unknown benefactor gave £1000. It’s district comprises

About 4000 souls.

The Zion School at New Wortley (on the British system,)was built in 1836,

at the cost of £1040, of which £400 was given by Parliament.
